Day 3: What Microsoft Copilot Studio Can Do

Day 3 explains what Copilot Studio can do: build conversational agents, use business knowledge, integrate with systems, automate processes, analyze performance, and extend with AI models.

Welcome to Day 3. Copilot Studio helps you create intelligent agents that talk to users, use business knowledge, connect to systems, and automate work.

What Copilot Studio can do: conversational AI agents, use your data and knowledge, integrate your systems, automate processes, analyze and improve, extend with AI models

Build conversational AI agents

You can create agents that understand natural language, answer questions, guide users through steps, and support common business scenarios.

For a beginner, this means users can ask in normal language instead of clicking through menus. The agent should understand the goal and help the user move forward.

Use your data and knowledge

Agents can use SharePoint, websites, files, Dataverse, and other sources to answer from trusted content.

This is one of the biggest reasons Copilot Studio is useful for organizations. Your agent can use your policies, procedures, product documents, and internal knowledge rather than giving generic answers.

Integrate with business systems

Copilot Studio connects with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure, connectors, APIs, and other systems so agents can work across your environment.

Automate processes

Agents can trigger workflows, call actions, update records, send emails, create tickets, and return results to the user.

Automation should be added carefully. Start with low-risk actions such as creating a request, sending a notification, or collecting information before moving to actions that update important systems.

Analyze and improve

Built-in analytics help you see what users ask, where conversations succeed, and where the agent needs improvement.

Beginner mental model

Think of Copilot Studio as three capabilities in one place:

  • Answer — use knowledge to respond to questions.
  • Guide — use topics to walk users through a process.
  • Act — use actions and flows to complete work.

Most good agents do not do everything at once. They start with one of these capabilities and expand over time.

Key takeaways

  • Copilot Studio can answer questions and take action.
  • Knowledge sources make answers more useful and grounded.
  • Integrations and workflows turn conversations into business outcomes.
Copilot Studio is most powerful when it connects conversation to real work.
